Today's update

Well, the contracts are signed, the survey's done and all we have to wait for is the administrative stuff to get done. We're not going to close tomorrow, but I do have the property locked up. We'll be closing by FedEx before the year is out. I won't bore y'all with more pictures tonight. I can't figure out how to post a map on here, so I'll describe where we're at. Find Lawton Oklahoma, go north on I-44 a few miles to Elgin. Go east on Hwy 17 through Elgin and Sterling to 225th Street north, follow that a few miles to Wolf Road and turn back west. It's 1320 feet to our driveway, according to the surveyor. Unfortunately, when you find it on Google Earth the resolution is terrible.

A few more things to do tomoorw, and I am on the way back to Margot and Tazz.

In case I don't post again before Christmas, Margot, Tazz and I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!

Clear endless skies...

Well, the weather finally broke today, endless clear blue skies and almost 50 degrees. I had to go take a few more pictures.

I will be a little busy this week, getting the property surveyed so we know where our borders are and getting a title search done. Hopefully we can close on Wednesday, so I can head back to Florida (and Margot!!) on Thursday.

So here are some of today's pictures... check in here once in a while to track our progress. You never know what I might post... haa haa haa

This is the south end of the house, the garage will be on the left side.

This will be the garage

That is Mount Scott in the backround, in the Witchita Mountains. It's about 35 miles away.

The negotiations continue....

Well, the negotiations are over, and we should be closing on the new place before the end of next week! The barn is a clean slate sitting on 5 acres, we have an option for 5 more acres after we sell the house in Florida. As you can see, the interior is ready for anything we want it to be, we'll close in one side for a big (26 x 70) gargage, the other side we'll leave open as a 20 x 70 porch. The interior demensions are 30 x 70, we'll remove the cross beams in the center for a 30 x 30 great room with a 35 foot ceiling. We're trying to figure out the rest, neither of us has ever had a place this big before.

I guess we''ll have all the room we need for VROC'ers to hang out and party!

The nekkid inside, looking north. You can see the cross beams, some of which will be gone.

The nekkid inside looking south, the front doors will be where the sliding glass door is.

Looking north west, the front door will be on this side under the long porch.

This will be closed in as the garage / shop. Notice the floor drains are already in.

This is the front porch. We'll replace the sliding glass doors with a nice set of double doors with side lights.
So now the adventure really begins!

The Adventure Begins...

So... on Sunday mornings, following my typical routine, I start looking at real estate in Oklahoma. This particular Sunday, December 9th 2007, I see a listing in Fletcher Oklahoma for a barn on a few acres. Hmmm... what's this about?

I read the listing and call the Realtor, Teri White. We had been talking to her off and on for about six months about different properties, so she knew we were looking to relocate to the area. I ask her what the story is on this, it was obviously started to be a house but nowhere near completed. After talking it over with Margot, and looking at a few more pictures of the place, it becomes obvious that I need to go to Oklahoma right away.

To make a long story short, I went out and walked around the place, took some measurements and more pictures, then I made an offer. As it sits right now, we are waiting to see if our offer will be accepted...
